Daniel Streebe
Master Craftsman
Daniel Streebe, a native of Taos, New Mexico, is the skilled craftsman behind Handcrafted Doors of the Southwest. Growing up surrounded by the rich tradition of handcrafting in Taos, Daniel took the reins of the family business, Streebe Doors, in 1987. What began as a one-year experiment became a lifelong passion, with Daniel now boasting 31 years of experience in creating unique, handcrafted doors in the traditional Southwest style.
In his workshop, Daniel draws inspiration from the geometric designs on local doors and gates, infusing authenticity into each creation. The doors, whether custom exterior or interior, showcase vibrant colors and rich textures, reflecting the history and spirit of the Southwest. Daniel's commitment to craftsmanship is evident in every detail, from the choice of wood, with pine as a popular option, to the intricate designs that blend tradition with individuality.
Clients entering Daniel's collaborative process discover a world of choices in wood, design, color, and decoration. Despite the myriad options, Daniel guides them toward a unique piece that not only serves a functional purpose but also adds intrinsic beauty and value to their homes. With his work featured in publications like "Old World Interiors: A Modern Interpretation," Daniel Streebe has not only become a master artisan in Taos but has also contributed to the enduring legacy of handcrafted beauty in homes.
